On the Analysis of Structural Life-Forms

The theory on life-forms that Thomas Højrup presents in his book Det glemte folk. Livsformer og centraldirigering [The forgotten people. Life-forms and centralized control] has had a considerable influence on the behavioural and social sciences, as well as on building research. These theories, or their applications, go against prevailing winds and provide sustenance for a critical debate on the basic structure and practical application of social and cultural theories. Thomas Højrup wrote a postscript for the fourth edition, published in 1989, in which he commented on the debate on life-forms. He summarizes his arguments for employing a way of analysis that differs fundamentally from other wellknown cultural theories.

Den teori om livsformer som Thomas Højrup presenterade i sin bok Det glemte folk. Livsformer og centraldirigering, 1983, har i hög grad påverkat forskningen inom beteende- och samhällsvetenskap, liksom inom byggforskningen.
