Sofia Cele

Abstract

Recent years have shown a remarkable increase in the interest
in childrens interaction with the physical environment and, also,
how children can be included in research and planning processes.
This article is concerned with how to approach childrens everyday
experience of place. It focuses on eight- and eleven-year-old children
and how they interact with the everyday urban landscape. The knowledge
gained during walks conducted with children in central Stockholm
are used to exemplify how children experience their environment
and how they communicate their experiences. The article explores
how walks provide opportunities for approaching childrens hidden
knowledge of their everyday environment.
